[Project 297] Week 8

04.26.10
Day 48: The Dark Knight

Whatever the situation, whatever the consequence, si Batman na lang ang bahala.

04.27.10
Day 49: In Peace

Went to Lola Connie's wake at Arlington. Met more relatives and listened to a couple of eulogies given by her brother and her friend. My heartfelt condolences and prayers to the Banzon and Marcos families. May God's grace embrace everyone in this difficult time.

More pictures here!

04.28.10
Day 50: Color Me Pink

A day spent with my mom. Had my toenails painted pink and she had hers in frosted platinum. Lovely! :)

04.29.10
Day 51: Restart

One of those days that I wish LIFE is just some crazy video game where I could hit the RESTART button when things get a little out of hand.

04.30.10
Day 52: Perception

For the past few days, I've been dragging myself down with negativity. I know that it won't do me any good and that I have to shake it off my system fast. But, but, but... Fine. No buts. :)

So is the glass half full or half empty? If I'm an optimist I'd say it's half full. If I'm a pessimist I'd say it's half empty. But I say the glass is just twice too big. What does that make me? Hehe.

05.01.10
Day 53: Buy Your TKTS Here

Watched Iron Man 2 at Gateway. Robert Downey Jr. is always a pleasure to watch. Hot, hot, hot! Hehe. I was kinda disappointed with the final battle with Whiplash though coz it ended pretty quickly. Nweiz, don't forget to stay after the credits! :)

05.02.10
Day 54: Little Miss Programmer

Been eyeing this Little Miss Programmer shirt online but the seller's taking too long to respond to my messages. So when I spotted their stall in Greenhills, without second thought, I bought the shirt! Forgot that I could still bargain for a cheaper price. Na-excite lang. Ahihi.

[Project 297] Week 7

04.19.10
Day 41: Red Pills

Been suffering from a terrible headache and popping these red pills since yesterday. Spent most of the day slumped over my desk, too lazy to function. Blame it on the insanely hot weather! Argh! :(

04.20.10
Day 42: While The City Sleeps

Paseo de Roxas at 1:30 AM. Car-free, pedestrian-free, traffic-free. Now that's something I don't see everyday. Hehe.

04.21.10
Day 43: Reflections

Twas a very long and busy day at work that I failed to take a photo for today. So I just rummaged through some older shots, hoping to find something that I could somehow relate to today.
Happy monthsary Furanzu! :*

04.22.10
Day 44: Aliens On The Walls

I've always wanted to take a picture of this colorful street art but everytime I pass by, there's always a car parked in front of it. This morning, I finally had a clear shot of the wall! Yippee! If only the "MMDA Art" looks like this. Hehe.

04.23.10
Day 45: Takushi De

Rendered extra extra extra hours of work for four days straight. I now have a nasty red pimple on my forehead and dark circles under my eyes. Not only has it taken its toll on my face, but on my wallet as well. Packing up at an ungodly hour left me with no choice but to take a cab home. Hence, a wad of hundreds in my wallet quickly thinned out to nothing but a pale purple memory. Wah. Thank God it's Friday. Thank God this will soon be over. :)

04.24.10
Day 46: Hey Sole Sister

We were supposed to check out this year's MYOH at the Rockwell tent. But there was a long snake of a line when we arrived and waiting in line for 3-4 hours didn't sound very appealing. So instead of walking out of the mall with a customized pair of Havies, we walked out with new E-Manila shirts from Team Manila. Ahihi. ;))

04.25.10
Day 47: Light A Candle

I light this candle in memory of my mom's aunt, Lola Connie. May her soul rest in peace.

[Project 297] Week 6

04.12.10
Day 34: Nihon Ni Ikitai

With its advance technology and rich culture, Japan is one of the many places that I want to visit some day. Sure, it's a non-English speaking country and I could only speak and understand little Japanese. But as long as I could say "Yes" (Hai), "No" (Iie), "How much?" (Ikura desu ka), "I don't understand" (Wakarimasen) and "Where is the CR?" (Otearai wa dochira desu ka?), then I could more or less survive, I guess. Hehe.

04.13.10
Day 35: Pen And Paper

Attended a seminar regarding Oracle's newest product - the Exadata V2. With the use of a parallel grid architecture, flash cache technology, and InfiniBand connections, this machine claims to be the world's fastest for both data warehousing and OLTP. Hmm, sweet. I don't think we'll get to use this powerful box any time soon, though.

More pictures here!

04.14.10
Day 36: Bottom's Up

Downed a bottle of soya from Fruit Magic for lunch. It tasted better than Soy Master's strawberry-flavored variant. Plus it has this nice body and an even nicer butt! The bottle, I mean. So yeah, I'm a Soy Magic convert and I'm sooo gonna try all the other flavors!

04.15.10
Day 37: Tokidoki Wall

Took this photo while waiting in line for my turn to use the ATM. I've seen these Tokidoki designs in bags and wallets before but I've never really appreciated its cuteness. Not until I saw this wall! Hehe.

04.16.10
Day 38: Kruffin: A Muffin With A Hole

Krispy Kreme has been around the country for a decade now but I could still count the number of times that I walked into a KK store with one hand. That's because I never really liked their doughnuts. They're too sweet and too pricey for me. Like ridiculously so on both counts! But with their newest line of Baked Creations, I'll be sure to drop by their store every chance I get. Blueberry Kruffin is LoVe. Ahihi.

04.17.10
Day 39: Ka-Angkan Festival 2010

Angkan Angkan is an annual event celebrated during the foundation week of Marikina. It serves as a big family reunion of the different clans in the city. We get to meet very distant relatives like my father's mother's cousin's daughter's son and my father's father's cousin's niece's ex-husband. Haha.

04.18.10
Day 40: Elevator Going Up

Visited Tita Janet at The Medical City. She underwent a surgery to remove a cyst found in her ovary. She was still barely able to talk due to her condition. But still pretty, nonetheless. :) We'll all be praying for her fast recovery.

[Project 297] Week 5

04.05.10
Day 27: Die Zomboss, Die!

Yey! My house is now forever safe from all kinds of zombies! Time for me to wash the dirt off my hands coz I'm done planting sunflowers, pea shooters and cherry bombs. Sorry Dr. Zomboss, but you can't have my brain. >:P

04.06.10
Day 28: XO! Bad Badtz Maru!

Hi! I'm Badtz Maru from Oahu, Hawaii. I love fighting for the wrong side and I love making fun of silly things. They say I have an attitude problem. I say I have an attitude. And they have the problem.

Got these ubongs from Candice: A cute Bad Badtz Maru pen, stickers and a B&BW foaming sanitizer! Wee, thanks! Batsu Maru Batsu Maru! :)

04.07.10
Day 29: Eat Me Bibe One More Time!

Cands treated us to a yummy dinner at Peking Garden. Told myself that I wouldn't eat too much duck, lest I give myself another headache. But who could resist that golden crispy skin?! Waah! Screw headache! There's Biogesic, anyway. Hehe.

Thanks Candice! We all missed you! See you again soon! :)

04.08.10
Day 30: Palette Of Colors

Attended a mini brownbag conducted by our graphics design team. Web and graphics design have always piqued my interest. I even took Multimedia as my elective class back in college and I actually considered pursuing a career in the arts. But different opportunities presented themselves and I just decided to follow a different route. Oh well. Looking forward to the next brownbag sessions! ^_^

04.09.10
Day 31: Rock The Boat

Went to the La Mesa Ecopark with Derick, Meds and Joan. We were supposed to do some wall climbing, boating and zip lining. But being the shutterbugs that we are, we ended up spending the entire afternoon taking pictures after pictures of anything and everything that caught our wandering eyes! Hehe. Mga adiiik!

More pictures here!

04.10.10
Day 32: Untitled

Can't think of anything to shoot today. Can't even think of a decent caption for this entry. Waha.

04.11.10
Day 33: Sacred Heart

Visited my mom's aunt at UERM hospital. Met a lot of relatives for the first time. Most of them just flew in from the States after almost 20 years of living there. Needless to say, every conversation I had with them left my nose bleeding profusely! Effort! Hehe.

[Project 297] Week 4

03.29.10
Day 20: Rejoining The Rush

My phone's headset connector is no longer busted and I'm back to being a Rusher! Yey for me!!! ^_^

03.30.10
Day 21: Happy Food! :)

In celebration of my first year anniversary with GlobalOne, I stuffed myself with what I consider to be my happy food! Frozen yogurt from California Berry! It's delicious, it's healthy, it's good for my digestion and it's fat free! Save for the dark choco chips topping that I had. Hehe. Happiness! :)

03.31.10
Day 22: Drink Your Vote

Forty days before the election and I'm still undecided on who to vote for President. With all these black propaganda and counter-propaganda and counter-counter-propaganda, I'm left scratching my head in confusion. Am I to vote for the candidate who doesn't have an impressive track record as Senator but is now running under an advocacy of a clean government? Or am I to vote for the candidate who worked his way up from Congress, to Senate, to being the Speaker of the House and Senate President but is now confronted with a barrage of controversies and cases of corruption?

As Anthony Enriquez Tiu said, there's no such thing as a perfect candidate. But we could all cast a perfect vote. A vote that has been carefully studied and a vote that we could put up with for the next six years.

I only have one vote. And I can't afford to let it go to waste. So to those who are in the same boat as I am, take time to read through each of the candidates' profile, political achievements, programs and platforms. And since it's a holyweek, let's also ask for God's guidance that He may lead us towards a better Philippines.

Get to know your Presidentiables:
Noynoy Aquino
JC de los Reyes
Richard Gordon
Jamby Madrigal
Nicanor Perlas
Gilbert Teodoro
Bro. Eddie Villanueva
Manny Villar

04.01.10
Day 23: Everybody's Fool

Attention all caffeine addicts! Starbucks introduced two new beverage sizes today - the Micra and the Plenta. Need a quick shot of your caffeine fix? There's the 2oz. Micra cup that could give you just that. Need to be awake for at least 72 hours? Then there's the Plenta cup, which is 128 ounces of your favorite Starbucks coffee! Read the complete article here.

And did I mention that today's the day that you shouldn't believe everything you read? ;)

04.02.10
Day 24: The Passion Of The Christ

Look at the cross and see what mankind can do to God and what God can do for mankind. This Good Friday, let us be reminded of Christ's unfailing love and ultimate sacrifice as He died on the cross for our sins.

04.03.10
Day 25: Zoo-Wee Mama!

Watched the "Diary of a Wimpy Kid" movie with Franz at Promenade. It was cute and funny and I love it! Love it so much I'm buying the books! Yup, all four of them! Who cares if it's a children's book?! Bata pa naman ako ah. Wehe. =P

04.04.10
Day 26: Not In My Hands

The Easter Bunny failed to leave me some Easter eggs. But I got something much much better - M&M's Peanut! Yum! =P~

Now on to a more important note, Easter isn't really about bunnies, and eggs, and chocolates. It's about the resurrection of Christ and His promise of eternal life. Through His resurrection, He conquered man's greatest enemy, which is death. And as believers, we share His victory. Death has lost its sting. It is no longer the end for us but a new beginning of an eternity with Him! Happy Easter! :)

[Project 297] Week 3

03.22.10
Day 13: Think As Juan

The GlobalOne signage in our office lobby is now up. Our bosses think that the color is a bit different compared to what the color of our logo really is. But I honestly don't see the difference. Hehe. I'm just happy that our once dull and empty wall is now splashed with a bit of color that I no longer feel the need to do some serious fine art doodling everytime I pass it. Wehe.

03.23.10
Day 14: Zombie Chickens: Myth

Postcard design by Ms. Cho Garra.
Zombie Chickens ridicule skeptics who easily dismiss global warming as a myth. It revolves on an exaggerated statement that Zombie Chickens might be fictional but climate change is real. Scary movies trouble the subconscious and raises paranoia; but climate change only tickles us. Something so real cannot be ignored and should be engraved in our thoughts like our favorite scary movie.

03.24.10
Day 15: Where's The Love?

Once again stuck in traffic along this bright and colorful street of Makati filled with middle-aged Joes and Pinay "exotic beauties" hoping to find love or hoping for love to find them. Well, either that or they just wanna get laid and get paid. Hehe. Here's to all the "success stories" waiting to happen! =P

03.25.10
Day 16: The Day The Earth Shook

A 6.2-magnitude earthquake shook parts of Luzon for about 30 seconds earlier this afternoon. We just got back from lunch when it happened. For a few seconds, I wasn't really sure if it was an earthquake or it was just me feeling dizzy from all the diet I've been doing. Nyaha. Thank God we're all safe and there were no reports of damage or injuries anywhere.

03.26.10
Day 17: Baconator 2: Judgment Day

Jules has been bugging me to try Wendy's Baconator. Two beef patties, six strips of bacon, two slices of cheese, 830 calories, 51g of fat and 170mg of cholesterol. But hell, it sure sounds yummy! Haha. So I threw all dietary caution to the wind and ordered a Baconator meal for dinner. The first half was good, maybe because I was hungry. But the second half was torture. I removed one patty but still it was too much for me. I swear I could almost feel my arteries clog with every bite! Ugh. After our exquisite feast of calories and fat and grease, Franz and I both felt like throwing up. Kaso sayang ang 500 pesos. *toink*

To the Baconator: Hasta la vista, baby! Though I don't think I'll ever want to see you again.

03.27.10
Day 18: I Love You Sabado!

It is only during Saturdays that I get to wake up at 11:00 in the morning. It is only during Saturdays that I get to eat my mom's cooking. It is only during Saturdays that I get to watch a movie or two. It is only during Saturdays that I get to hop on my bike and sweat some pounds off. It is only during Saturdays that I get to take a nap in the afternoon. Haays, sana araw-araw Saturday. Hehe.

03.28.10
Day 19: Music Is Life

I am a music junkie. I download music off the internet and enjoy them without paying a single centavo. I have a pretty long playlist both on my iTouch and on my laptop. I also purchase CDs once in a while. Especially of local artists that I really like and of foreign artists if they're on sale. Honestly, I still prefer CDs over MP3s. MP3s are great travel companions but quality-wise, CDs are still significantly better. Plus there's the cover art and the liner notes and the happy feeling whenever I see them stacked on a shelf. Looking at a long playlist is just not the same.

Spent the entire afternoon going through my CD collection. All were submerged in flood during typhoon Ondoy. After I cleaned them up, I never got the chance to test them. Until today. Sadly, there were some that I could no longer play. Huhu.

[Project 297] Week 2

03.15.10
Day 6: Blue And Yellow

No, this is not an attempt to promote the candidacy of Senators Noynoy Aquino and Mar Roxas. Hehe. After a coupla adjustments, I finally got my gown for the wedding. And it finally fits me well! Di na mashado nagpupumiglas mga fats ko. Nyaha.

03.16.10
Day 7: Oh My Gulay!

Meds and I will be eating healthy starting this week. More greens, less meat and no rice. We already tried doing this with Weng before but we only lasted two days. Hope we could stick with this diet much longer this time. AJA!

03.17.10
Day 8: Run Kringle Run

Squeezed in an hour jog with Franz before heading home. Gotta lose these lovely lumps of excess baggage! Wahaha.

03.18.10
Day 9: Diet Another Day

Thanks Joey! Goodluck on your new work! And don't forget to wear your shades! ;)

03.19.10
Day 10: The Dentist Is In

Had my braces adjusted and I could feel the pressure on my lower teeth. Hope the pain will be gone tomorrow. Or I won't be able to enjoy the food! Huhu. T_T

03.20.10
Day 11: My Bestfriend's Wedding

It was a beautiful celebration adorned with flowers and wedding day smiles. I smiled at how lovely Roxie looked as she walked down the aisle. Got teary-eyed when I saw her and her parents cry. I was actually torn between smiling and crying. So I did both at the same time.
:') <-- Ayan. That's how I looked. Hehe.

It also became a reunion of sorts for me. I was really glad to see Abby and Noemi again after how many years. Too bad I wasn't able to sit down and talk to them that much. We'll just have dinner when Onai gets back from Singapore. A lot of catching up to do!

To Roxie and Chris, I wish you all the best and all the happiness that you both deserve! Here's to love and a happily ever after! Congratulations! ^_^

More pictures here!

03.21.10
Day 12: Sweets For My Sweet Tooth

It's been three months since Franz returned from Sweden but I still have a box of Merci and a large pack of M&M's in our fridge. Well, now that the wedding is over... =P~

Sunday, March 14, 2010

[Project 297] Week 1

03.10.10
Day 1: Mariposa

Meds is back from her Palawan trip. She gave out wooden magnets and I got myself a butterfly! Wee! A welcome addition to my collection! Ahihi. Thanks Meds and welcome back! *hugz*

03.11.10
Day 2: Répondez S'il Vous Plaît

Got the invites for Roxie and Chris' wedding. It had this pop-up caricature of the two of them riding Jeniper. Nice! Nine days to gooOooOo!!! Woot woot!

03.12.10
Day 3: Bento B

That's our free lunch for today. I soooo missed Yoshinoya! Especially you my Bento B! Hehe. =P~ *BurrRrp* Excuse me po!

03.13.10
Day 4: Room 201

Attended my dad's office blessing and project launching. I was tasked to take photos of the event. When the event started, I forgot about my task. Yeah, I failed to take that one important shot of the ribbon cutting ceremony. Waha. My bad. To my dad, goodluck on this new venture! May the Good Lord bless you, your partners and every project you're gonna develop.

03.14.10
Day 5: Absorbent And Yellow And Porous Is He!

Enjoyed a Spongebob bucket meal dinner with my family. The dinner was on me coz I really really really wanted to get my hands on the Spongebob-themed bucket and tumblers! Cuteness! Wondering when will they have Mickey and Friends design on them. Hmmm...

Live And Shoot

One of the reasons why I started this blog is because I wanted to create something I could look back on. Something that could remind me of events that happened and of feelings that I felt. I used to do this with so much passion. But for the past few months, I felt like the passion just died. I sometimes feel the urge to weave words together, I sit in front of my PC but I just can't seem to string my thoughts together enough to put them in print. I guess I've lost that blogging feeling. (Oooh that blogging feeeeeling...) Nyaha.

Project 365 is a one-photo-a-day kind of blogging that will run for a year, hence the name. Will be working on this project with Derick and Meds. Since we started kinda late, we won't be doing a full 365. Instead we'll be doing it for 297 days starting tomorrow until December 31. So yeah, ours is Project 297. Hehe.

It's a painful cliché but pictures do paint a thousand words. So for the next 297 days, I'll try to capture tidbits of my life thru a lens. Hope my laziness won't kick in and kill this project. Haha. ^_^

A Taste Of Nature's Wrath

Just a few days ago, the Philippines took a helluva beating from Typhoon Ondoy. According to news, it poured a month's worth of rain in just 6 hours submerging 80% of Metro Manila and 90% of Rizal in flood waters.

It's been almost a week now since Ondoy left the country. The rain had stopped. Most of the flood had subsided. But the storm had left its mark. It left so much of the city and so many lives in shambles.

Sadly, me and my family were not spared from the calamity. The flood entered our house and reached chest level in a matter of minutes. We don't have a second floor so we first brought our lola in our neighbor's house. Tried to save some of our belongings by piling them on top of our couch, beds, tables and cabinets. Then our couch, beds, tables and cabinets started floating. Wah. At this point, we decided to leave the house and save what's really of value, our lives.

Spent the night in our neighbor's second floor. We had no food, no water, no extra clothes, no means of communication, no nothing. My dad unlocked the fire exit so we could climb the roof if needed. My mom was complaining about the lack of rescuers in our area. Never felt so tired and helpless and scared in my entire life.

Dad led us in prayer that night. We thanked God nobody in our family was harmed, prayed for the storm to pass, for all the affected families and for everyone's safety. Can't remember the last time we did that as a family. Made me realize that I wasn't so helpless after all. I have my family and I have my God. :)

Got up early the following day. Not sure if I even slept, though. As expected, our house was a complete mess. Everything was turned over, scattered on the floor and covered with thick mud. Didn't know where to begin or which to pick up first. We ended up throwing most of our things. The couch, dining set, tables, cabinets, drawers, mattresses, clothes, photos, everything that was beyond repair. There were also a lot of things that we should've disposed of a long time ago. Unused clothes and shoes, broken toys, century-old documents and other unnecessary clutter. Saddest part for me is that I lost all of my books. My seven years worth of collection! Huhu. Oh well. We may have lost these things but we still have quite a bit left and for that we are thankful. :)

Help started to arrive. Relatives, friends and officemates extended their help in cash and in kind. I am really very thankful for all the assistance, the support and the prayers. It really helped us pull through this tough time. Thank you and God bless us all. :)
