Day 103: PlastiCITY

Every year, around 500 billion to a trillion plastic bags are used worldwide, with over one million bags used every minute. It's no surprise that most of our trash is plastic. We have tons of plastic cluttering our landfills, clogging our drainage systems and choking our oceans.

Kudos to the local government of Muntinlupa for successfully banning the use of plastic in all establishments in the city. Two years ago, Marikina had the same goal. Why it did not push through, I have no idea. But I hope that our local government would try to get their teeth into it again coz with enough political will, Muntinlupa has proven that it can be done.

Day 104: Hari Ng Kalsada

Just saw the music video of the song "Don't Let Me Go" by The Click Five. The video was produced in partnership with MTV EXIT, a campaign that aims to raise awareness about human trafficking and exploitation. Caught a scene with a jeepney passing by, obviously shot here in the Philippines.

Most of us coast through life blindfolded, oblivious to the terrible things happening right under our noses. We choose what we want to see and couldn't look past our own wants and needs. The Click Five and MTV EXIT encourages us to take off our blindfolds and see the things that we're trying hard not to notice. Watch the video and join the fight to end exploitation and trafficking.

Day 105: Quarenta

Isang linggo nanaman ang lumipas. Kwarenta oras ng pagtutok sa monitor, pagpindot ng keyboard at paggalaw sa mouse. Ilang oras pa ba ang kailangan kong bilangin bago ako makalaya?

Day 106: Concrete Gods

Visited The Myth of the Human Body at Neobabylon building in Taguig City. It is an exhibit showcasing over 300 real human specimens, dissected in every way possible to disturb educate its visitors. This is made possible by a process called plastination developed by German anatomist Gunther von Hagens. I was really fascinated with the cadavers and the plastination process itself. I just don't think the tour guides were the best persons for the job. They weren't that believable and it didn't help that they kept on cracking corny jokes that seldom elicit laughter from the crowd.
